End of year One...Start of year Two

A year has passed, and I am thankful to be much further with this career path than I was a year ago. A colleague has informed me that he feels I have out-grown my camera. I was quite surprised to hear this information. I thought it would take me at least two years to get to the level I have gotten. The camera's he listed off I felt were out of my league, but not according to him. Once I am able to obtain a flash my my current system, I will begin the research on the next camera.

I almost made my goal. I set out in 2008 to take 1,000 pictures a month. I wanted to have a large assortment of photo's, and be able to learn my camera. Well...I have 10,000 pictures to sort through, fix, delete, and prepare for their future use. It is a daunting task and I am over whelmed. I have also started a new series-two photo's to be taken between 6:15 pm - 8:15 pm. I started it last night and it will continue until December 31, 2009.

I had my first paid photo gig in December, AND I have my first contract for a web design. Lot's of work ahead - oy! Things are progressing well - and I am thankful.

Until then - here are some more photo's to share. They were taken at a Team Roping in Bristol, TN. If you look into the eye of the horse, you can see my reflection.

I had the chance to get out and get some skyline shots. I am quite excited about how they turned out - but I know they can be better. I like the Nashville skyline - it is pretty...however, it makes me contemplate a smaller location.

Not too bad for not having a tripod with...ok I confess, I set the camera on something. I was still fairly happy with how this turned out.

Ahhh...how can you not step back and appreciate the beauty of the small town of Chattanooga? It is pretty fantastic here and people are so kind.

Hope you enjoy the pic's - feel free to leave comments.

Photo Posting...Nature & Wildlife

Finally - pictures...or at least an attempt to post them, lol. Here is take one at posting. :) Looks like it worked - yay! These were taken while out hiking. I was able to get quite close to the whitetail at Radnor Lake in Nashville. The deer at the top was quietly resting until I came hiking by - if it had not raised its head, I would not have seen it.
The doe at the bottom was a Mama, I noticed while she was eating before I took this photo she reached up with her hind leg to scratch her ear. This exposed a large udder, I am not sure where she had her fawn hidden. It was cool to see this proud Mom feasting on the vegetation to nurish herself before checking up on baby. I love how she is looking up at me with such a sweetness in her expression and curiosity.
The middle photo was taken at Tims Ford State park, south of Nashville, I went camping there one weekend. I just liked this photo - it is plain - but I like the curve of the road ahead as it lured me onward to see what was on the other side.
More photo's to come - keep checking in!

June 14

It was a long day of shooting, seven hours and three belly dancers. It was awesome!! I learned so much about my camera, how to set up lighting and what to pay attention to, why to do this and that, then the first dancer arrived.
We got some great shots - I took around 1,300 photo's that day. I have only seen them once as they are on the Photographer's computer at the studio. Soon I will get them loaded onto a cd and begin the photoshop work to them and get them posted on MY website.
I was exhausted by the time it was all over. But, I had a lot of energy too. It was work, but I enjoyed it. I'm so glad this will be what I do for a living.

It's coming!! It's coming!!

I feel like Paul Revere...ok, so I am not sure exactly how he felt...but the surge of excitement within me makes me want to run the streets screaming, "MY COMPUTER IS COMING!!! MY COMPUTER IS COMING!!!" It was shipped yesterday - now to finalize details on the internet connection and I will be rocking and rolling!!!
YES!!! It is finally here - I will be able to do all I desire to do to get this business of mine up and running! Yay!!!
Check in soon for *gasp* pictures!!! :D

Ok - so I found out it wasn't on its way, but all is well. :)

It arrived in the mail, the first part of August I was working away at setting up my office officially with a computer. A BIG THANK YOU TO BRAD! What I owe him is hard to describe. All I know is he will be paid back in a manner that I can't describe. I am blessed with two wonderful friends who are incredibly supportive and words of thanks just isn't enough.
